Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) is dead! Seemingly out of nowhere, the Chicago Med character decided to move to Seattle to be with Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto). It was a good way to let a character go, even if it was sad to see him go. Halstead's departure comes shortly after his brother Jay (Jesse Lee Soffer) left the Chicago Police Department.
Halstead is still hoping to return in a cameo role, but as he begins the next chapter of his life, curiosity about his age arouses. How old is Doctor Med even though he's no longer a Gaffney employee?
How old is Nick Gehlfuss at Chicago Med?
The age of the Halstead Brothers was one of the biggest changes in the entire One Chicago series. The writers generally stick well to the facts and character biographies they laid out at the beginning of the series, but at some point it was decided that the ages of the two Halstead boys would change.
Jay is the younger brother and Will is the older brother.Soffer tweeted, "Will is older on TV. Jesse is older in real life,” confirming the odd discrepancy between the actors playing the characters and the characters themselves.
How old is Will Halstead? The actor who plays him, Nick Gehlfuss, is 38 years old, a year older than Soffer. When it comes to the Halsteads, however, the rule of thumb is that the ages of these two men are simply reversed in the show's universe.
That makes Jay Halstead 38 and Will Halstead 39. Simple but confusing. Gehlfuss didn't comment on the confusion surrounding these eras, but there's always a chance the writers could go back and reverse them if one of the characters decides to return to One Chicago.
